I build real-time systems for spatial environments: terrain, architecture, simulation, and interactive experiences. Most of the work starts with real-world data, processed into environments that hold up at 1:1 scale under true coordinates.

About

Various 1999

A snowbound alpine basin under broken cloud. Snow-laden conifers run along the left shore of a frozen lake, bare rock breaks through the drifts on the right, and a fox lies on a low cantilevered platform in the middle distance with wind-driven snow blowing past.

UNREAL ENGINE · HOUDINI

Built in Unreal Engine and Houdini, Cecret is a snowy alpine visualisation based on the terrain around Cecret Lake in Utah. Public elevation and satellite data drove a procedurally generated landscape, which was then layered with custom masks for colour, soil, sediment, limestone, sandstone and gravel.

The work was in the blending: getting material transitions to read as believable geology rather than as textures meeting, and composing the frame so attention lands where it should.

The masks are included here because they are the actual project. The two camera renders are what the terrain looks like; the seven maps are what it is made of.
