I build real-time systems for spatial environments: terrain, architecture, simulation, and interactive experiences. Most of the work starts with real-world data, processed into environments that hold up at 1:1 scale under true coordinates.

About

Various 1999

A misty meadow filled with hundreds of pale tapered forms standing in the grass like a crowd, receding into fog. A tight cluster of warm orange forms sits at the centre, the only colour in the frame.

Habitat

A small interactive environment in Unreal Engine, built and lit at the scale of a box turtle, with the layout driven by research into how the animal actually sees and behaves.

UNREAL ENGINE

Built entirely in Unreal Engine, Habitat is a small interactive environment scaled to a box turtle’s perspective. A simple movement system lets a player navigate it, which is what makes the scale legible. The space only reads as large because you cross it slowly and low to the ground.

The design was informed by research into turtle behaviour rather than by taste. Box turtles respond to bright orange, so the orange forms are clustered near the spawn point and the rest of the field is left pale; the animal is drawn into the environment by something it is already looking for.

The four frames from the pond camera are one form iterated in place, low then tall then orange then white, held at a fixed viewpoint so the variable is the object and nothing else.
